Dungeon Keeper

The Dungeon Keeper Quest ran during July of 1999. Each day a dungeon on one shard was selected for the quest to be held in. Sometime before midnight (CST) 2 gems would be hidden somewhere in the dungeon. Adventurers had to find these gems and present them to a game master in order to claim their prize. One gem was for a free month of UO and the other for a free copy of the Dungeon Keeper II game.

Sounds easy right? Well the spawn in the dungeon was increased substantially. In the higher level dungeons this would make them all but impossible to a single person. But before you could even begin to search for the gems you had to decipher the clue to which dungeon the quest would be held in. Each day clues were posted on the UO.com web site in the FYI. Here are a few of them:

- When searching for the gems in this dungeon, be wary of the flames shooting from the floor.

- The earth has been known to come to life in this dungeon's first level.

- The living elements in this dungeon range from earth, to fire, to the dreaded poison.

(Note: dungeon spawns have changed over the years. Some of these clues may not apply for the same dungeons any longer.)

This quest was well received by the players and was most enjoyable. Special thanks to Swamp Thing from Napa Valley for helping with information about this quest and supplying the picture of the gem for the free game time.

Beware the Dungeons During the Month of July! June 30 1999 6:36PM All throughout Dungeon Month, UO players will have the chance to win a free month of UO Gametime or a free copy of Dungeon Keeper II. Each night, on one shard, two special black gems will be placed in a specific dungeon that players must find. The FYI section of the uo.com website will offer a clue each day as to in which dungeon the gems are located. The gems will be placed at a random time sometime before midnight CST each and every day throughout the month of July. Be wary though, as that dungeon will be especially dangerous! In order to claim your prize, you must call a GM after you have found a gem and present it to him. Be sure to visit the uo.com site every day to find out the latest shard and dungeon hint!
